Who we are
Our goal this year is to help thirty pregnant women in rural communities in Nigeria with histories of infertility, recurrent miscarriages, and or stillbirths become mothers with healthy babies.
WHO WE ARE?
Victoria's Smile Foundation (VSF) is fully registered as a non-governmental organisation (NGO). At the Federal level, we are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (with the registration number, 140329). At the State level, we are registered with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ondo State (registration number 000637). Our goal this year is to help thirty pregnant women with histories of infertility, recurrent miscarriages, and or stillbirths to become mothers with healthy babies.
SO FAR... SO GOOD
Our Program officers ( Mrs Omonori & Mr Garuba) engage stakeholders including beneficiaries, partner agencies, service providers and local benefactors within Ondo State.
We have partnered with Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA) and the Hospital Management Board (HMB) at the Ministry of Health in Ondo State. These partnerships afford us direct access to patient records that aid beneficiary selection and more importantly, we can monitor service delivery to our selected beneficiaries.
HURDLES & IMPEDIMENTS
At the dawn of the Foundation, our primary objective was to support women by paying exclusively for all prenatal, delivery, and after-care costs involving the baby. However, our preliminary investigations revealed that in addition to other fertility-related concerns, many of our beneficiaries were malnourished and had various nutritional deficiencies that if left unaddressed can adversely affect the health of their babies. Consequently, we had to factor these concerns into our program delivery. Similarly, the administrative bottlenecks associated with government parastatals have been detrimental to some of our plans. Thankfully, in the last couple of years, we have made sufficient strides in strengthening our relationship with maternal healthcare regulatory bodies and other healthcare management agencies.
WHAT WE NEED
Due to various socio-economic and socio-cultural factors, many women in rural communities in Nigeria have no access to vital information, resources and support that are pivotal for them and their unborn children. Victoria's Smile Foundation (VSF) is poised to provide help for more women, especially those in rural areas and low-income communities... This year, our goal is to help 30 women achieve their dream of motherhood; to do this, we need your financial support.
